(DBT Postdoctoral Fellowships in Biology & Biotechnology)

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of “DBT-Postdoctoral Fellowship” (6 Nos. and likely to change) for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied Biology. The fellowship is tenable at UoH-DBT Centre for Education and Research in Biology and Biotechnology, (CREBB) School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad 500046.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicants should hold a PhD degree in Science, or M.D. or M.S. in any area of medicine with research interests in Biology and Biotechnology and possess a good academic record. Persons with publications in reputed scientific journals will be given preference.

Those who have already submitted this is Ph.D./M.D./M.S. thesis may also apply. The applicants should preferably be below the age of 40 years, and 45 years in case of women candidates. Persons already employed should apply through their employers.

DETAILS OF THE AWARD

The Postdoctoral fellowship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the fellowship may be extended, subject to availability of grant. Selected fellows, will be paid Rs.15,000 per month (except those who are not yet awarded Ph.D. degree). The fellows would also be entitled to HRA as per the DBT guidelines. The fellowship is likely to be revised, after getting the approval of DBT.

DUTIES & COMMITMENT
Candidates selected for the award are required to stay with the center for a minimum period of one year, failing which they may be required to refund the fellowship amount. The selected candidates are expected to participate in the academic activities of the center besides conducting research under the guidance of a faculty member.

MODE OF SELECTION & APPLICATION

The candidates will be selected based on their C.V., publication record and performance in the interview. The interview will be held at the office of the Dean, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad- 500046, India. No reimbursement will be made towards their travel allowance. If the candidate accepts the fellowship, he/she must join the University within a month’s time. Candidates may submit their application on a plain paper along with bio-data, list of publications (attach reprints of 2 important papers), copies of certificates (B.Sc./M.Sc/Ph.D./M.D./M.S.), one page synopsis of their thesis, 2 letters of recommendation (academic). The applicant is advised to propose a research project, compatible with the on-going research in School of Life Sciences availing the fellowship.

Research Associates selected under the prestigious KSKRA programme are given an opportunity to work on R&D programmes of national importance relevant to the mandate of the Department in one of the following advanced research centres of DAE:

1.Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai.

2.Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam.

Up to 20 KSKRAs can be selected every year and paid a stipend of Rs.20,000/- + benefits for a maximum period of 2 years.
